Gold franc with a knight on horseback, minted in France under King John II the Good (1350–1364) from December 1360, with a theoretical weight of 3.83 g, a diameter of about 29 mm, and 24 carat (999‰) pure gold, in non-graded condition, obverse showing the king on horseback and inscription IOHANNES DEI GRATIA FRANCORUM REX, reverse with a leafed and flowered cross in a quadrilobe, and notable as the first coin to bear the name ‘franc’. Denomination: Franc à cheval. Era: 1400-1900. Condition: Ungraded.
